Repair is best-effort. It resolves many structural problems, but severely corrupted or truncated files may only be partially recoverable.
What is the downside of the deep (image) repair?
When the structure can’t be rebuilt, pages are rebuilt from images. The file opens reliably, but the text is no longer selectable in those pages.
