Frequently Asked Questions
What grid sizes are available?
You can choose from 8×8, 16×16, 32×32, or 64×64 grids. 16×16 is the standard for icon-style pixel art. 32×32 works well for game sprites. 64×64 supports more detailed artwork. Changing the grid size clears the canvas.
How does the fill (bucket) tool work?
The fill tool uses a flood-fill algorithm to color all connected cells that share the same color as the cell you clicked. Only orthogonally adjacent cells (up, down, left, right) are filled — diagonal connections are not included.
What is mirror mode?
Mirror X automatically paints the horizontally mirrored counterpart of every stroke you draw. Mirror Y does the same vertically. Enabling both creates four-way symmetry. This is ideal for drawing symmetric sprites like faces, animals, or icons.
How do I erase cells?
Select the Eraser tool and click or drag over cells to make them transparent. You can also right-click any cell with any tool active to instantly erase that cell.
What export formats are supported?
Export PNG at 1× (actual pixel size), 4×, or 8× scale. The 8× export of a 16×16 canvas produces a 128×128 PNG — useful for sharing or use as game sprites. You can also copy the image directly to your clipboard.
Can I create animations?
Yes. Click "Add" to add frames and switch between them. Select FPS (4/8/12) and click Play to preview the animation loop in the editor. Export each frame as a PNG and assemble them in a sprite sheet or GIF editor.
