How to Sign a PDF Online Free (No Upload)

Learn how to sign a PDF in your browser — draw your signature and place it on the page. No printing, no scanning, no upload. Private and free.

Signing a document usually means the print-sign-scan ritual: print the PDF, sign it by hand, scan it back, and hope it's legible. You can skip all of that. Draw your signature once and drop it onto the page — right in your browser, with your document never leaving your device.

Why sign in the browser?

  • No printer or scanner needed
  • Fast — sign and send in under a minute
  • Private — sensitive contracts stay on your device
  • Reusable — draw your signature and place it wherever you like

How it works

The Sign PDF tool lets you draw a signature on a pad, then stamps it onto the page as an image using pdf-lib. You drag it to the right spot, resize it, and download the signed file. Everything runs client-side — nothing is uploaded.

Step-by-step

  1. Open the Sign PDF tool
  2. Drag and drop the PDF you need to sign
  3. Draw your signature in the pad, then click Use this signature
  4. Drag the signature to the right place, pick the page, and adjust its size
  5. Click Sign & download

Is this a legally binding e-signature?

This tool adds a visible handwritten-style signature image — the same thing you'd get by signing on paper and scanning, but cleaner and faster. That's enough for most everyday agreements, internal approvals, and forms.

It is not a cryptographic digital signature (PKI) with a certificate and tamper-evidence. If you need a legally certified, audit-trailed signature — for regulated contracts, for example — use a dedicated e-signature provider that issues certificates. For everyday signing, the browser tool is quick and private.

Tips

  • Sign slowly for a cleaner line, or sign large and shrink it down for smoother edges
  • For multi-page documents, pick the correct page before placing the signature
  • Combine with Fill PDF Forms to complete a form and sign it
